Elkin Cañas was born in Colombia in 1974, but grew up in Venezuela, where he moved with his parents at the age of 3 years. Drawing was always part of his life, and discovered his passion for painting at an early age. After finishing his high school studied graphic design at the Design Institute of Caracas, and then at the School of Art in your city for 2 years, disappointed by the extreme emphasis on modern art, and the lack of traditional training and orientation to realistic painting, is retiring to work and study with the Italian painter and sculptor Francesco Santoro "with whom he traveled to his studio in Milan, Italy. He has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions in his country, in addition to Colombia and Spain. His paintings have won awards in various shows and competitions. Elkin really believes in a strong and honest observation of nature and the study of the Old Masters and methods to create a strong basis on which the artist can create work and a solid career, contemporary, of the highest quality , timeless beauty and permanence of centuries.
